چکیده

This paper presents the experimental validation of a microwave imaging system for real-time monitoring brain stroke in post-acute stage. The exploits low-complexity sensing apparatus and multi-frequency algorithm with novel artifact removal feature. Phantoms homogeneous anthropomorphic head an ellipsoidal non-static mimicking target, varying gradually from 0 cm3 to 60 cm3, are employed experiments. phantom evolving target filled appropriate alcohol-based mixtures mimic different dielectric properties relevant tissue. scanner operates using 22-antennas architecture formed by printed flexible antennas custom-made matching medium. provides 3-D images entire region, exploiting differential multi-view scattering measures distorted Born approximation build pre-computed kernel. results show system’s capability follow up continuous progression hemorrhage ischemia zones centimetric spatial resolution provide information on whether is growing or shrinking.

A Feasibility Study on Microwave Imaging for Brain Stroke Monitoring

The adoption of microwave imaging as a tool for noninvasive monitoring of brain stroke has recently gained increasing attention. In this respect, the paper aims at providing a twofold contribution. First, we introduce a simple design tool to devise guidelines to properly set the working frequency as well as to choose the optimum matching medium needed to facilitate the penetration of the probin...

Simulation of a Neutron Detector for Real Time Imaging Applications

Monte Carlo Method is used to simulate a double layer gadolinium-amorphous silicon thermal neutron detector. The detector fabricated in pixel array configuration has various applications including neutron imaging. According to the simulation results, a detector consisting of a gadolinium (Gd) film with thickness of 2-4 ~m, sandwiched properly with two layers of sufficiently thick (-30 ?µm) hydr...

In vivo real-time multiphoton imaging of T lymphocytes in the mouse brain after experimental stroke.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE To gain a better understanding of T cell behavior after stroke, we have developed real-time in vivo brain imaging of T cells by multiphoton microscopy after middle cerebral artery occlusion. METHODS Adult male hCD2-GFP transgenic mice that exhibit green fluorescent protein-labeled T cells underwent permanent left distal middle cerebral artery occlusion by electrocoagula...

Mind Monitoring via Mobile Brain-Body Imaging

Current brain-computer interface (BCI) research attempts to estimate intended operator body or cursor movements from his/her electroencephalographic (EEG) activity alone. More general methods of monitoring operator cognitive state, intentions, motivations, and reactions to events might be based on continuous monitoring of the operator’s (EEG) as well as his of her body and eye movements and, to...

A PC-controlled microwave tomographic scanner for breast imaging.

This article presents the design and development of a personal computer based controller for a microwave tomographic system for breast cancer detection. The system uses motorized, dual-polarized antennas and a custom-made GUI interface to control stepper motors, a wideband vector network analyzer (VNA) and to coordinate data acquisition and archival in a local MDSPlus database. Both copolar and...
